Hydrogen gas sensor based upon perylene-imide derivatives
نویسندگان
چکیده
Perylene-imide derivatives are industrially important pigments that exhibit a variety of shades from red via maroon to black. In the present investigation, we have synthesized novel perylene-imide derivatives with pyridyl rings in an attempt to apply them for H2 gas sensors based upon proton acceptors. The two N atoms of the pyridyl rings which work as proton acceptors are found to remain unbonded in the solid state according to X-ray analysis and are thus available for protonation necessary for H2 gas sensors. The H2 gas sensors exhibit a significant change in electrical resistivity by about three orders of magnitude even under 0.01 % H2.

متن کاملThermo-reversible gelation of rod-coil and coil-rod-coil molecules based on poly(dimethyl siloxane) and perylene imides and self-sorting of the homologous pair.
Organogels with perylene derivatives and phthalocyanines reported in the literature so far involve self-assembly promoted by hydrogen bonds, in addition to aromatic and van der Waals interactions. Although the self assembly of these types of molecules without a hydrogen bonding group in the structure occurs in solution or during crystallization, the gelation studies reported so far incorporated...
متن کاملSubstitution Effects on the Photoinduced Charge-Transfer Properties of Novel Perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic Acid Derivatives
We report here the synthesis and photophysical study of a series of electron donor-acceptor molecules, in which electron-donating 4-methoxyphenoxy groups are attached to the 1,7-bay positions of four different perylene tetracarboxylic acid derivatives, namely, perylene tetraesters 1, perylene monoimide diesters 2, perylene bisimides 3, and perylene monobenzimidazole monoimides 4. These perylene...
متن کاملTiO2 based surface acoustic wave gas sensor with modified electrode dimensions for enhanced H2 sensing application
The design and optimization of nanostructure-based surface acoustic wave (SAW) gas sensor is analyzed based on TiO2 sensing layer and modified electrode dimensions. The sensitivity of the gas sensor depends upon the type of sensing layer used and active surface area obtained by varying the aspect ratio. The performance of the sensor is observed from 0.1ppm to 100ppm concentration of ...
متن کاملSynthesis, mesomorphic and photophysical properties of novel triads and pentads of perylene liquid crystals with cholesterol units at the bay-position
Series of triads and pentads of perylene derivatives with two cholesterol units at the bay-position or four cholesterol units on both bay-position and imide position were designed and synthesized in yields of 55–65%. The influence of the different number and position of cholesterol substituents on mesomorphic properties and photophysical properties was studied. The results suggested that, in co...
